History

Jason lived in Austell, GA with his father, Donnie, and his sister, Diana. He graduated from South Cobb H.S. in 1998, where he was in the drumline and was a student leader. He marched mellophone in the Americano's Drum and Bugle Corps in 1999 and the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps in 2000. He also played in the "pit" for the CorpsVets Senior Corps in 2001. He was truly a drum corps fanatic!! He was a regular participant in various drum corps newsgroups, and though he was known for his quick wit and sarcasm, he was also a very caring friend.

After living with back pain for over a year and thinking it was from an injury in a car wreck, Jason was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in September of 2000. He endured many rounds of chemotherapy, and astounded everyone with his amazing ability to rebound after each setback. While Jason was in constant pain, he never complained and always had an incredibly positive outlook on life. He taught many people a lot about the important things in life. After almost a year of fighting this terrible disease, Jason passed away on August 9, 2001. He left us just as his beloved Spirit was taking the field at Drum Corps International Quarter-finals. He was then, and always will be...with us in Spirit.
